![]() ![]() Don’t get stuck in the technicalities of how he regrows, or why he is immortal. That will probably deter a few readers, but the idea is not to overthink it. The concept doesn’t scientifically make sense. ![]() Unfortunately, Undying Happiness doesn’t offer this. Technical readers like everything to be explained to them in a very factual way. One issue that comes with this story’s amazing concept though, is that you are going to get a ‘technical reader’ every now and then. That being said, the longer you read the story, the more you fall in love with their comical lifestyle. It can be seen as a personality flaw I suppose, but in the end, there isn’t really any strong “moral of the story.” The characters don’t learn any life lessons from their mistakes, and in fact, they just keep going with what they were doing before. Ever.Īlthough the introductions are great, character development is lacking. The story has a great introduction that jumps straight into telling the reader who the characters are. Undying Happiness by Zelkats is a unique comical story about a girl who falls in love with a clumsy immortal man, and spends the rest of her life cleaning up after his mistakes. She travels far from the city to where he lives, but upon realizing who or what he is, she might just decide to turn back and run the hell home. Despite that he is such an optimistic fellow.Summer break’s here and Naomi’s dying to leave her house to meet an online friend for the first time. It astonishes me how he is prone to accidents and, no, most af them could not be prevented. ![]() Keisuke is such a weird character and I mean it in a good way. ![]() Story is full of gags and if nothing “bad” is happening at the moment you can just anticipate and wait. The art is manga like, facial expressions of characters are very descriptive and there is no lack of funny faces. I will finish to talk about it now so I will not spoil anymore of the story. That makes one think: Did they have to move from that village, heaven like place for them? That’s pretty much stress creating to pregnant Naomi who takes much pain to clean the mess they create so that no one gets to know about their abnormalities. And yes, their son Yusuke is very much like his father (be it the amazing regeneration skills or personality, in this family it seems to be hereditary). And if you want to know, yes, Keisuke is the father. And we are finding Naomi in expectations of her already second offspring. The story, however, continues 13 years later. And that was last thing Naomi could handle in one day and, without much ceremonies, run away into unconsciousness to cope with all insanities that day brought. Just give her time to regenerate her amputated fingers she accidentally chopped, presumably, instead of veggies. But don’t worry! Granny will in no time resume cooking. They head to his granny’s place to stay overnight and this old grandma welcome them with news of no dinner prepared yet. But Naomi is by the end of day not fleeing, even deciding to stay since she has been drawn by his kind and optimistic personality and not his outer appearance. Yup, now the sight of him is starting to get scary. Keisuke is freely roaming around village, buying his anticipated guest a food and yukata, leaving behind bloody footprints as he slowly regenerate his muscles back. Oh well, even local villagers are not afraid of him so she must have assumed he’s not a dangerous person… ehm skeleton… to be around. I must give Naomi credit for not instantly running away but on the other hand she is too astonished to even close her mouth. And he turns out to be very friendly, goodwill skeleton. Well then, before we start to assume something is fishy about this guy’s calm demeanor we are introduced to Keisuke, whose entrance is very dramatic and very fitting for horror scene. The weird thing is how come he is so indifferent about such horrible possible dead? The old man (cleaning burned-out house) who gave this information is not certain himself. What’s more, Keisuke is buried somewhere in the remains. What was left of Keisuke’s house was nothing but remains of fire. But upon her arrival what awaits her is dreadful sight. Packing her luggage, she decided to pay a visit to her online friend Keisuke, a guy who occupied her thoughts. Relationship of Naomi’s parents is far from desired. Ongoing comedy about unforgettable first meeting of Naomi and Keisuke and how it will change their life from then on. ![]()
